April 5th, 2008

exciting3.jpgI’m excited to see how the Tsukuba HyperMeet turns out tomorrow. This event is famous for setting the standard for the years target track times at Tsukuba for Evos and Imprezas. I’m sure the regulars will show up, and especially the Arise/Prova Impreza.

2012 Mazda RX-9

December 31st, 2007

2012 Mazda RX-9I called it, Mazda released photos of the 2012 RX-9 and mentioned the 3-rotor wankel power engine.

My industry source says the price point will be around 70k, and the car will be hand built. It will be a sports coupe placed in the market segment up with the GT-R. It will compete as a lightweight RWD coupe as opposed to the AWD Grand Touring 2+2 monster.

Place your bets - Mazda 3-Rotor RX-8

BEST Car

Japans automotive industry rumor rag “BEST Car” usually has a good look into the near-future of Japans auto industry. Judging from the cover of the newest issue, they have an inkling that the new Mazda RX-8 will have a “big change” with their engine. With the rumors of the Le Mans inspired sport coupe in the works, I’ve got a feeling that both will debut with a new 3-Rotor wankel engine. I’ll put money on it.

Ignore the 2009 Silvia coverage shot on the cover, thats not what’s important… their photoshop work is not typically representative of final products.

18th Annual REVSpeed Tsukuba “Super Battle” Time Attack

December 17th, 2007

Super Battle results boardSuper Battle!

Japanese tuner magazine REVSpeed has posted the results of the 18th annual Tsukuba “Super Battle” Time Attack (筑波スーパーバトル). Looks like the HKS CT230R wasn’t taking part because it was busy touring the world for its FANCY PUBLIC RELATIONS BATTLE pimping for HKS.

Some notable results from the attached image (Thanks to my JDM translation skiwlz):

  1. 4WD: MSpeed GT-R R34
  2. 4WD: TRIAL CT9A EVO
  3. 4WD: Keiyo Jikou (京葉自工) GT-R R34
  4. 4WD: Auto Gallery Yokohama GT-R R34
  5. 4WD: Zerosports Impreza GDA

Video of the MSpeed winners car.

Its too bad the Arise/Prova/Tomei GDB and the HKS CT230R didn’t show up, I would’ve liked to see how they compared to the competition. More coverage can be found on Eiji “Tarzan” Yamadas’ blog here.
